Miles Davis - Kind of Blue

Glad i made no promises yesterday because we're going off in a totally different direction.

It's been said that if you don't like Kind of Blue, then maybe what you actually don't like is Jazz. Cornerstone of any Jazz collection, about the closest to pure spontaneous improvisation as you can get, call it Modal Jazz or Post-Bop, it's 5 pieces where Miles Davis said here's the type of piece it is, here are the scales you can use for your solo, start playing.

Obviously this isn't a Meat Puppets album, so only 1 was a legitimate first take, but they are all the first completed playthrough. And they are fantastic.

I'll go a step further, if you're not blissfully enraptured, then you just need to accept that you don't actually like music. I get that you could not like the way Miles Davis plays Trumpet, and the mix is pushing even my tolerance for left-ear centric mixes, but for an "album in a day" spontaneous live ensemble improvisation album it's beyond spectacular.

It's not aggressive or spastic or egotistical, it's smooth and relaxed and at times melancholy. Phenomenal stuff, if you've never plopped Kind of Blue on the turntable, then you're really missing out.
