Soak - Omniphonic Globalnova

... and 22 years later we find my copy of the first album listed in the discography section of John Moyer's wikipedia page. Written and dated in blue ballpoint pen under the cd tray in the parking lot of the Diamond Ballroom in OKC. He might be the bassist for Disturbed now, but i remember the confused look on his face when i told him they rocked that night and asked him to sign it.

They did rock that night, but i remember this album sounding tragically underwhelming. Let's find out...

... actually, it's much better than i remember. Nothing earth shattering, but they've got some real personality. This just might call for another entry into the obscurity vault. It definitely doesn't show up in my youtube search as an album (a later album and a couple live clips do, but not this one.) I wonder how many of these are actually out in the world in playable condition right now.

They belong to that weird in between world of alternative metal that incorporates funk. It's almost proto nu-metal, but it's really the kid brother of bands like Faith No More, Living Colour, and Primus with a healthy dose of noise rock thrown in. It won't change your life, but it's interesting.
