Between the Buried and Me - Colors

Ok, i sort of get it. I can see how you're stuck in limbo. But, we can't reaarange the entire economy to pay off your debt, even if you represent a wider demographic.

That's where you go wrong. I'm not a demographic. I'm 1 person, being selfish. I can't pay it, but i'm also perfectly willing to not even try. I make enough money to live a comfortable life, and the promise of possible fortune has no power over me. All i have to do is make an annoying phone call every once in a while to explain reality to a 20-something collections agent. She types in my numbers, sees that they are exactly what the irs report says they are, and slumps down in her chair because she isn't legally allowed to take away my grocery money. I'm paying more than the maximum federal wage garnishment. I'm exceedingly tired of playing that game, so instead i'll play some adult contemporary progressive death metal. I'm not thrilled that it's remixed/mastered, but i am thrilled that it's Between the Buried and Me's fourth album, Colors. I'll keep buying records one gift card at a time until it's a million dollar collection, but i'll also keep listening to them for fun and tank that value at the same time. Floating toward the sun, the sun of nothing.

Oh man, this album is gorgeous. It's got everything: piano, screaming, circus music, jazz guitar solos, more screaming, an out of nowhere honky-tonk banjo interlude, trumpets and synths and dueling lead guitars, the whole album is one continuous work and only one or two tracks fit on a side. I like some of their later albums more, but Colors is a monumental epic of an audio masterpiece. We're gonna keep going tomorrow and really delve into stuff when the next batch of records gets here, but i beg you to carve out 65 minutes of your life to listen to Colors by Between the Buried and Me. I just made it to the accordion part at the end of side c. Delicious.

A truly magnificent work of art.
