Butterfield Blues Band - Keep On Moving

Today's album is Keep On Moving by The Butterfield Blues Band.

Paul Butterfield is genuinely regarded as one of the elite blues harmonica players, but beyond that everybody just kind of ignores his actual music the same way i personally ignore the Moody Blues. That's a shame, but it's a consistent reality for big band blues as a genre because most people find it too homogeneous a universe to visit for an extended period of time. It's the backdrop for the party in most people's minds.

This album certainly suffers that fate. Nobody has anything to say about it, but it's exquisite Chicago electric blues. Maybe that's it. It's too good. There's nobody to fight with about it; you'd be lying if you said they are terrible, and everybody would say "you're an idiot" if you had anything bad to say.

Butterfield isn't the "standout talent" because every single person making sound is amazing. Go really listen to it with proper headphones. Every single part is so naturally immaculate that it's easy to not notice how virtuosic it really is. The mixes and blending are astonishing as well. Seriously, go check it out.
