Woodhawk - Violent Nature

I've spent so much time in the 60s and 70s that i need a dose of today. I just stumbled on this album, and wow. Woodhawk is like a synthesis of everything good from the last 50 years of hard rock and british heavy metal without even a hint of schlock or self indulgance. It has a few softer moments, but it's pretty much straightforward heavy grooving guitar riffage with (i don't say this very often so you know i mean it) great vocals and not terrible lyrics. The solos are actual melodic solos, not pointless meandering etudes ("douchetudes" should be a real word), and their back catalogue is just as good as this latest release. I now own all three albums, and they're all fantastic. I'll shut up and send you to it now...
