Automata - where do we even try to begin?

First thing's first (it's like step 9 by now, but who's counting?), we need a list of chronological (for us) vs in order (for the story).

1. Condemned to the gallows [night 1]

2. House organ [day 2]

3. Yellow eyes [night 4/morning 5]

4. Millions [before]

5. Gold distance

6. Blot [rehersal]

7. The proverbial bellow [night 6]

8. Glide [night 4]

9. Voice of tresspass

10. The grid [the premier]

Now, there's definitely some wiggle room here, but if i were going to rearrange those tracks in order of the story time line, it would be this:

4, 6, 10, 1, 2, 3.1, 8, 3.2, 7

Sure, the dreams actually took place before they were broadcast, but the story is about the actual broadcasting of these dreams. Tracks 5 and 9 aren't given a sequential reference, and that's because they are musical nouns. Whatever the "gold distance" is, it's the purely musical track 5, and track 9 is a character study of "voice of tresspass." Tommy already told us it's a corporation, so track 9 is the musical personification of that corporation, regardless of what it actually does throughout the story. Skip, you're looking a little too splodey for my liking. I had Gladys roll a roll of Tums down the escalator before we started, so here, chew 4 of 'em before things get really confusing.

From our chronological experience, the later songs actually point backward to earlier songs, so track 9 for example sends us back to track 1. The yellow eye thing is in tracks 3 and 7, there's a sun and moon battle going on not merely in terms of night and day, something about a wooden frame, the gold distance (track 5) is first mentioned back in track 3, and the corporation itself always has some type of reptile associated with it. Musically speaking, the technical death metal is reality for the protagonist and all the other styles are some form of sarcasm/irony/unreality. It's a giant mess is what i'm saying.

Believe it or not, i'm tired and we've barely even started. Hows 'bout we all take a nap and try again tomorrow? Oh, that motion was seconded, thirded, and fourthed, i see you're still not won over. Well, tough titties, or whatever less provocative thing you think is a good metaphor for difficult, we'll be listening to all 4 sides again tomorrow, and every night after until the analytical epiphany smacks me on the forehead like a can of tomato juice. Hope you brought your raincoats to Seaworld, 'cause you're all in the splash zone. I'm gonna try to avoid buying Tommy's Kinko's copied Cliff's Notes (spiral bound for your pleasure), but i've got a feeling this is gonna be like that time my dad took me down to the bottom of the 9' deep end at the YMCA and i wasn't entirely sure i would maintain consciousness on the way back to the surface.
